Public Intervention

This project was created by my classmates and I as a way to publicly intervine around our university campus. While brainstorming ideas we decided that we would focus on hunger. We narrowed it down to hunger in the United States and in Africa. We gathered our facts and one of my partners in this project and I designed the visuals while the other interviewed classmates about food waste around campus. In order to create impact and have people notice our project we created various life size child posters who carried a plate of food with a hole in the middle. As people threw out their trash they were forced to read the information on the plates, which held fact about hunger in their respective areas. We wanted students around campus and in food halls to think about the food they were throwing away everyday and those who didn't have any. This project was successful due to the visual and emotional impact it ensued. Thank you to the University of Pennsylvania for allowing us to place these on campus and to Emily and Pele for working with me on this.
